THE GAITHERSBURG FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION was founded in 1976 as a small group of artists residing in Gaithersburg and has grown over the years to include members throughout Montgomery County. GFAA provides educational programs, promotional opportunities, multiple exhibits during the year, and outreach to local audiences.

Mary Boeh Pastels: Get Down with Underpainting
Many of us, whether painting in pastel or other media, start with an underpainting. Creating that foundation can be a very serious component of our painting process. That doesn't mean the underpainting process has to be boring and limited to one technique. Change it up!
Mary loves to experiment with underpaintings. It's an underpainting after all - it is what is under your masterpiece. You plan to paint over most of it, right? Having fun with the underpainting can be a great way to freshen up your painting.
In this presentation, Mary will share some of the techniques she has used down under her pastel paintings.
